Author Topic: No USB transfer options in phone  (Read 1640 times)

So I tried to connect my phone to my PC for tethering, but the computer doesn't detect my phone. I remembered on my old phone, a thing would pop up asking for the connection type (transfer, charge, etc.), but this phone doesn't. I'm looking all around for USB options and can't find anything.

I have android 4.4.2 please help

look for your phone model/manufacturer and search for their drivers and install them. could work.

its very likely the mtp driver is loving up

just reinstall it from windows itself, use the device manager

Where would it be located in device manager?

How do I reinstall it? Don't you need Internet to do that?

Sorry for triple post, modify button won't work

I found the mtp settings on my phone, and it is on. The connection problem is coming from my computer. I'll try to download a driver

sorry was busy for christmas dinner and whatnot

go to the device manager on your pc and look for either a "portable devices" or "other devices" category, the mtp device should be under either of those, if not, just look around

once you find it, right click it and pick update drivers, then pick update manually and then pick "choose from driver list", select the mtp driver and thats it

i can get some screenshots if youre lost

I downloaded the mtp driver via a WiFi file sharing program... still not connecting.

If you have a mac you need some stuffty software to do it, otherwise if it's windows it should just work.

What phone are you trying to do this on? It may not have tethering capabilities at all.

sorry for long bump. it's a samsung galaxy avant, and it does have tethering capabilities.

yeah the problem is the tethering option in my phone is greyed out. wondering if it's because i'm not using a samsung cable.
