Anyway, I feel like making this into a thread and I'm going to be doing little segments like "Tie-fighter vs. Hunter Chopper"

I mean the Combine use bullet-based weps (excluding the AR2) while the Empire has Sith and laser-based weps. /discuss

this is a bad way of putting it because the forces we see on earth are more-or-less occupational forces, half the enemies we fight in hl2 are just things augmented/modified from our own world. the AR2 is the closest thing we have to telling what actual combine weaponry is, and even then it's been optimized for use by the transhuman arm of the union's military

not to mention the combine's real name is the 'Universal Union' and 'combine' is just a term used to define how it militarizes and utilizes the species of all the worlds they've conquered along the way

im not knowledgeable at all on star wars lore but i'd say it's a safe bet the union could probably outdo the galactic empire

Keep in mind that the combine wanted acquire the portal technology aperture science had developed and all the research black mesa had done.

they were in search of the tech because it allowed them for single dimensional teleportation and could basically send them wherever they want in a more precise manner iirc

i mean they could pretty much already go wherever they wanted in the first place, just at a much larger scale than what they were wanting

The combine, considering they control entire dimensions, and you cant get to that level without having some level of loving insane technology. I mean they managed to wipe out our military in HL2 within seven hours with whats assumed to be only a fraction of their military power and technology.

But assuming the technology they have stationed on earth is what they use to conquer planets and dimensions, then I would see the combine even then winning, cause its heavily implied that they dont manufacture their synth ships, but rather clone them. Personally I dont think the combine are insanely advanced, any alien empire who can use insanely advanced technology would be able to look elsewhere for resources. They could probably engineer most of the resources they need from planets.

they have giant turbolaser cannons that fire with the energy of ATLEAST 30 terrawatts PER SHOT, and they mass produce these things on pretty much all of their ships, not just star destroyers
thats more than the united states produces in terms of power
thats half the power of the Hiroshima bomb

not to mention they probably have soldiers numbering in the hundreds of billions or even the trillions considering they own an entire galaxy

they can also reduce a planet's surface to ash in a couple of hours with star destroyers or under 1 minute with a death star

and Darth Sidious is considered the most powerful Sith to ever live, AND he has darth vader aswell

i can say without a doubt that the Empire would win
a better matchup would be the Imperium of Man vs the Empire

let's use gmod snpcs to answer the question

i loaded up gm_flatgrass and put 5 Rebels with DC-15A's and used Model Manipulator to give them mark 2 clone trooper armor, then i put 5 Combine Soldiers that spawned with SMGs and pitted them against each other. clone/stormtroopers won with no casualties.

then i did it again, but gave the rebels E-11's instead. they won again with no casualties on their side. combine soldiers spawned with AR2's.

of course, that's just garry's mod.

I'm going to go into detail, one by one. I'll change the poll to an AR2 since an Overwatch Soldier with an SMG would lose.

you're only considering the occupational forces on earth, OP. you really can't answer this question because its assumed that the combine are much bigger than the games show us. we just don't know what they're capable of, compared to the empire which we have plenty of information on.

gmod (and HL2) give massive aim advantages to the rebels. spawn 10 combine a few dozen meters away and have them shoot you. delete them after a few seconds and look at the wall behind you. it'll be peppered with holes and you probably won't have died.
