Unless freeman could sneak up on the force user, there's no way he'd get a shot off with any weapon against them. The force is magic and magic is bullstuff. The force could be used to see Freeman coming. The force could be used to grab or break the gun. The force could be used to just kill Freeman, if that's what we're doing. The gravity gun totally could forget up a lightsaber, but he'd never get the chance to do it.
>Gordon pulls the lightsaber away from Luke and launches it away with the gravity gun

Check mate space samurai

listen if gordan freeman can take on an entire army of space national socialists once, he can do it again

the empire is ultra-fascist

The combine lmao. When most people think of the combine they think of the enemies they fought in Half Life 2 which isn't accurate. The actual invading force that enslaved earth weren't humans, it was an array of thousands of different previously enslaved alien species that the UU had already made contact with.

The Empire is an impressive force, but we already know what they are, they've got cool space ships. The entire star-wars franchise is set in a single galaxy. Now pit them against an infinitely large army of nightmarish monsters from every reach of the multiverse. EZ win for the combine.

The jedi are based around a strict moral code revolving around knowledge, while the sith are anything-goes.

The jedi are basically platonic fascists, and the sith are basically an-caps. As for the empire, given the vast range of its species and territories, none of which are colonies, I'd say it's closer to an constitutional, oligarchal united states with a large military-industrial complex.

The combine, considering they control entire dimensions, and you cant get to that level without having some level of loving insane technology. I mean they managed to wipe out our military in HL2 within seven hours with whats assumed to be only a fraction of their military power and technology.

Its been forever since I played HL2 but do we ever actually see the extent of the Combine's reach for ourselves in the game or is it just told to us by Combine propaganda and that Combine shill who sold out Earth? Because if the only information about how vast and powerful the Combine is comes only from Combine sources, then for all we know they could be outright lying or at the least massively overstating their power.

that aside these "who would win x faction vs y faction" debates always annoy me because there are way too many variables to account and the original question is always too vague. stuff like "corellian corvette vs klingon bird of prey" or "astartes space marine vs spartan II" is one thing because it's comparing the abilities of single units but when you go up to the factional scale there are a stuffton of other things to take into consideration. what is the win condition? what's the battleground? is this like a battle island situation where they're both fighting over a small continent? or a planet? star system? the entire galaxy? how many resources are at their disposal, is it a small scale scuffle or are we talking total war? is this a specific era of the empire or is it everything they ever had all at the same time? do the empire and combine still have to deal with rebellions like they undoubtedly have to on a day to day basis? etc etc

It's more of a case where the combine ON EARTH is actually just a small force sent to assimilate earth that took a while to arrive.

they're stranded on earth so they have to be frugal compared to the real deal.

My point is that anything talking about the true power of the Combine is pure conjecture, which means the whole debate can never reach a conclusive finish. The Combine might (and probably do) have an unfathomable reach over trillions of worlds or whatever, but all we know for certain about their ability to conquer is what we see in Half-Life 2. And in the grand scheme of sci fi bullstuff, forcing an entire planet at an early information age tech level to surrender in 7 hours isn't all that unique. If the Galactic Empire took the Death Star out of hyperspace next to Earth, demanded our surrender, and then blew up the moon as a demonstration, you can bet your ass the world governments would give up within 7 hours.

this, aswell as my previous points

The Jedi are more like a collectivist oligarchy, sort of like Japan where it is free, but there are strict societal codes and just punishment.
The Empire is a totalitarian what-the-government-says-goes state based around abusing the Force to bully people and taking over as much land as they can.

Actually, no, the Empire doesn't actually use the Force. On Imperial words, the Force is almost unheard of and it is somewhat frowned upon. This is evidenced by the fact that Han Solo doesn't even believe the Force exists.

The higher-up Imperial Government use the Force to gain power over their cohorts. Vader wouldn't be in charge if he wasn't legitimately more powerful than everyone else.
