Author Topic: Voltage Question  (Read 840 times)

So today, my voltage spiked up to 300v. I have a voltage stabilizer and it autocuts when it goes past 245v or below 200v. Thing is, recently, the power stabilized at 245+-1 so it's constantly cutting and reconnecting the power. All of my equipment is rated 220-230. There won't be an issue to remove the stabilizer and connect directly to the network, right?

Since this is a rural area, a storm can cause it to fluctuate and two storms passed on wednesday and yesterday.

By "equipment" I mean a 2000w pump, my PC, six ceiling fans ?w, and two freezers 2000w and 2500w respectively.

first your boiler was connected to hell, now your house power is connected to an unstable nuclear reactor.
i told you about the space wizards
you had to exterminate them early
you didn't listen

lmao welcome to rural argentina

Surely if your power is spiking to a level deemed unsafe by your surge protector, connecting directly to the mains and bypassing that surge protector is the last thing you'd want to do.

Unless, you know, you /want/ everything you own to blow out/catch fire

It stabilized at 245 for about an hour or so and I really need to get the pump running. That's why I'm asking. Of course I'd plug the protector into a socket near me to keep an eye on it in case it marks 'Normal' again and reconnect it to the line.

I'm just saying, I wouldn't do it

/probably/ should call an electrician. might be some open wiring or short circuit somestuff where water is going to

i really don't know much about ee but thats my guess

Not an electrician, but my intuition tells me that if you overvolt your equipment by 15-25V, you're probably gonna break something. I wouldn't do it.

No
power coming into a house is never a constant voltage that's the whole point of a regulator/stabilizer
