A gunman opened fire at Fort Lauderdale / Hollywood International Airport Friday afternoon, killing at least three people, according to law enforcement sources. At least nine people were shot, sources said earlier.

The suspected gunman is in custody, law enforcement sources told NBC News.

The shooting occurred at the baggage claim inside Terminal 2. Aerial footage showed people gathered outside on the tarmac.

- This event will result in a push for stricter gun laws
