Author Topic: [NEWS] turn off your alexa devices.  (Read 6210 times)

... i don't think you've used an alexa.

they mostly play music, but can also run podcasts, search for info, and play user-made games you install to them through their app (like Jeopardy)
you're right on that first part, all i've heard about alexa is that you can buy things from amazon super quickly.
but they still sound useless, most smartphones can do all that and more without the risk of accidentally buying 5001 cans of soda

Who buy stuff without looking at pictures anyways? Why do people even want an alexa?

what kind of dollhouse would alexa order like youd have to be more specific

I can imagine youtube videos doing this on occasion just to forget with people

this is like when people were abusing the xbox one's "xbox turn off" command to forget with people

Why the forget is auto-purchase enabled? That's loving handicapped. Alexa should still request confirmation before it pays; what if it gets the wrong item, or what if you want to browse from the different storefronts and find one at the best price for the quality you want?

Stupid idea.

you can disable it though, although having it default enabled is stupid

*breaks into someone's house*
"alexa order me 500 horse carrots"
*leaves*
me irl

what's the point of elexa?
is going onto the amazon website, finding the item and clicking too hard for people?
do they just want to spend money without thinking or something??
I think it's more like, it does other things
and then they added in the ability to make amazon orders because it'd be kind of weird if it couldn't

why? just let it come then resell for profit

go watch a demo video or something, its part of the smart home wave, so they're pretty popular. you could argue that voice activated lights are worthless too because you can "just flick the switch"

do these things not have voice recognition installed on them, like cortana does so other people dont activate her?

a few days ago this radio station was doing this for fun

technology is really stuff these days.

yah i miss the time when we had megabyte hard drives and dial up internet those were the days

technology is really stuff these days.
says tony, as he types from his computer capable of displaying 1080p High definition video at 60 frames per second while also using internet fast enough to display a webpage in under a full second.
