Author Topic: What the forget is wrong with my computer?  (Read 3298 times)

Okay so this is REALLY loving pissing me off. This is my internet speed on my computer

This shouldn't loving be like this. My wifi on my PHONE gets 34 MB/s EASY and I am paying for the 30MB down plan (upload speed stays the same). What the forget is wrong with my computer? I have a desktop with a wireless adapter (which is SUPPOSE to go up to 150mb/s down) and yet this stuff is happening, this wasn't happening before, hell it wasn't happening earlier in the loving day, but I highly doubt it has anything to do with other people using the internet at this time at night because, again: my phones wifi is fine. Any suggestions for what I should do to fix this stuff?

if you're on Windows open the resource monitor and go to the network tab. there you'll see your network usage and processes that are using it.

lan cable

Routers too far away. I actually have a lan cable capable of reaching that far but it just doesn't work. The cable is old and was left over from the previous owners of the house so I'm hoping it's just the cable and not my desktop

It could be your router. Sometimes internet companies use their stuff routers when people order the high speed internet to save money. Make sure if it's the case or not and if it is, ask for a new router that's actually capable of the speeds

this might help you out

30 Megabit (Mb) = 3.75 Megabytes (MB), make sure you confirm with your ISP if they're counting in Megabits (normal) or Megabytes.

Still, there is some odd stuff going there. Your network is restricted by using WiFi, but it would only be that bad if your adapter was a true piece of stuff. Got a name for the hardware device you're sing to connect to WiFi?. Given that there's no processes consuming mass amounts, it looks like a hardware issue. Anything else in the home consuming bandwidth?

ISP counts in megabits but Speedtest also counts in megabits.

If your asking my wireless network adapter then its the TP-LINK TL-WN781ND
It's never been this bad BTW. I used to get 16 MB/s on a 15 MB plan (same provider BTW). It's like after I've upgraded my internet it went to stuff.

Just tried updating my wireless network adapter but that did forget all

Oh, well that's really weird. Make sure your phone isn't using the 5.0 ghz option because if that is the case, then that would explain why your phone is getting the speeds it is
