the affordable care act, dubbed "obamacare" by the right wing, was a law in 2010 which outlined healthcare subsidies and insurance coverage for over 20 million lower class americans. last week, the senate voted 51-48 to outline new obamacare policy, predictably to gut all funding. today the house voted in favor of that same bill, and so proceedings have begun to introduce a bill to formally repeal the affordable care act.

repealing obamacare is anticipated to cost $350 billion over the next decade and leave 20 million americans without health insurance.

I want to believe they're doing this to make way for free healthcare

but we all know that's not happening

mr Annoying Orange's wild ride is already in motion

Annoying Orange outright said he would replace it with "something better"

i dont understand how spending $350,000,000,000 US tax dollars on removing a health plan is considered a good investment. Put it on anything else- education, police, hell put it towards fixing the health plan and not removing it- and that's 350 billion well spent.

Spending that much money on removing something only to spend another hundred billion dollars to make something better seems like the best way to dig a country into a deeper debt ditch

how is there even going to be enough money to provide a health care plan in the first place if you just drained your whole loving treasury? maybe by 'something better' he meant health care for him and his family and nobody else

i'm holding out hope that it will actually be better but for 350 billion dollars it better be the best thing since sliced forgetin bread. It's gonna have to make up for all of that lost tax dollars.

Are you seriously daft?  You're complaining about Annoying Orange being the one to empty the treasury?

Annoying Orange has nothing to do with this, which is why i didn't even mention his name. And yeah, i'm fairly certain that 350 billion dollars is worth more than a penny

also i get you're going to try to say something along the lines of 'well obama did it first!!!' but honestly it doesn't even loving matter because US is going to lose $350 billion over the next decade thanks to someone other than obama.

You're all forgetting that obamacare has added at least 1.207 trillion to the national debt

You're all forgetting that obamacare has added at least 1.207 trillion to the national debt
that's not possible because there's only 7 billion people in America😧

You're all forgetting that obamacare has added at least 1.207 trillion to the national debt

Correction: that is the total net cost of running obamacare for the next decade.

In other words, instead of losing 1.207 trillion; we lose 350 billion.

here's a list of stuff that we lose if obamacare is gone for handy reference:
http://obamacarefacts.com/benefitsofobamacare/
http://obamacarefacts.com/summary-of-provisions-patient-protection-and-affordable-care-act/

so there are some things which are probably not great to lose. tbh i think spending time to reform it would've been better, hopefully they phase it out after a decent period of time instead of just cutting it off; maybe in that time there will be a replacement with all the good parts of obamacare (but i seriously doubt it)
