Author Topic: my speakers are picking up some kind of radio frequency and it's loving scary  (Read 1733 times)

Unshielded or poorly shielded wiring going to your speakers will cause this.  The longer the wiring, the stronger the signal you'll pick up.
You can buy a better sound system or try binding the wire close together with some zip ties, or simply move them around to a less interference prone position.

When I lived closer to a radio station my speakers did this too.

instead of being a cunt and calling you cheap I'll actually assess the situation.
we aren't being cunts lmao we're telling him exactly what's wrong. his speakers are a low-end set and therefore have poor shielding against interference because of the lower quality materials used.

cover it all in aluminum foil. cover your head too. and your feet, don't want to risk them hacking into your legs and making you walk to arbys

my brother got some radio thing playing in his speakers if the jack wasn't plugged in a certain way, sounded like some radio talk show thing on am radio
it's getting interference from whatever radio is in your local area in the certain frequency that is interfering with it

the first solution to try is what tezuni said about zip ties, or do plan b: save up for a better set of speakers that isn't cheaply made

or better yet: use as free radio

I was driving my van through town the other day and my usual radiostation was receiving some irregular interference. I could hear a woman saying "Are you there? Do you read me?" in a desperate tone and then the signal disappeared. Not joking either. Nothing i could do about it so i picked up a large pizza and slept in after eating the whole thing. I think I may have avoided becoming the main character to some kind of plot thank goodness.

realtalk though your speakers' cables are acting as antennas. try the following:

-otto's aluminum cable suggestion. minus the clothing part.
-jumbling/bundling the cabling together so it's more of a coil than an antenna
