Author Topic: [NEWS] China scraps coal power plants in favor of renewable energy  (Read 2479 times)

maybe autocracy is better than democracy after all because it's sure as hell working in China and sure as hell isn't in the US

india is taking massive steps along with china towards furthering their renewable energy systems
dont talk stuff

they still stuff everywhere lol

this really has nothing to do with politics or nature and more with the pollution problem being too massive to ignore

i wonder if solar is even possible given how much pollution exists to block any direct sunlight there so we'll just have to see how well this plan works
you aren't putting the solar panels in beijing lol

they have deserts man.

the reason we aren't implementing renewable energy isn't because of democracy.

Holy stuff, this may be a turning point. I hope America and other countries soon follow suit.

i am from a part of texas where the energy business is one of the biggest employers as well as a republican, and frankly, if you're a power company, why would you not invest in renewable energy? it's cheaper and infinite. you have less dependency on opec and no needed exploration costs.

Renewable energy is only so cheap because of massive government subsidies. That, and in terms of efficiency, there's absolutely no way you're competing with natural gas and oil.

Believe me, I'm conservative too and I'd like to see a switch to renewable energy as well. First, though, there needs to be enough R&D in that field to develop renewable sources that surpass oil and natural gas in both cost and output.

Nuclear

nuclear energy isn't renewable, but it's incredibly safe and efficient

China is now bending over to America.
apparently clean energy is sucking our richard?? lmfao

wasn't elon musk's solarcity thing a big hit or something

Orbital solar arrays hue.

Sounds great until you read about the environmental impact of projects like the Three Gorges dam and its relation to recent ecological disasters (i.e. earthquakes).

Until I see it in true effect, I assume this is all PR and will be a very minimal change.

The funniest thing I saw today was someone saying that this was caused by Donald Annoying Orange's Chinese sanction threats. You guys realize Annoying Orange doesn't even believe in global warming? Why would he demand China use renewable energy? I doubt he's concerned with running out of coal.

yeah i saw a documentary about that. damming causes tons of problems and is generally bad for people living near the dammed river, but it's otherwise very efficient and without pollution.

we need to work with china to make a dyson ring. let's make it happen donald
