Author Topic: Hosting LAN Games w/o Internet Connection  (Read 1096 times)

I have a question regarding hosting LAN games with no internet connection going to the computers. I am planning on having a Blockland LAN with a bunch of friends at a house without internet. The house is trying to be sold atm so they don't pay for an internet connection.

We've had problems getting LAN games with computers at school that don't validate with the master server because they are off the school network and connected to eachother via a hub. I hope that Blockland doesn't require internet to host an non-internet game because that would be ridiculous. Any info about this question would be appreciated since I would like to know before we try this at a LAN party.

You don't need an internet connection to play on LAN. Don't worry if the bar at the bottom says Offline Mode - It won't prevent you from hosting a LAN game (provided you have bought blockland).

It'd probably be your network configuration that messes up your ability to have a LAN party if you were using a Hub, since that doesn't have DHCP, which automatically assigns IPs for people who are connected.

Has anyone actually got LAN to work. I can't seem to get a lan game to work at all.

im sort of new to the forums, but is asking a question inside another persons post called something like bumping etc? i want to ask before posting and being flamed

Bumping or 'thread necromancy' is the act of posting in an old 'dead' topic, bringing it back to the first page and pissing everyone off.

Using a hub is probably a bad idea because it will slow down your game (because of packet collisions). You would be much better off with a router or using a switch and manually configuring their IP's individually.

Ya me and my sister both can host LAN games.
