Author Topic: [NEWS] Brexit: MPs overwhelmingly back Article 50 bill  (Read 4424 times)

I only posted "yay more liberal tears" to joke about the cringey and bad that group of people react to this stuff. Nal said it was irrelevant and I only stated what I meant just to show him it's relevant to the topic. Yes, I know it's obvious. I didn't post it to state the obvious, I posted it to correct someone. Calm the hell down, you all are getting up about a very simple joke / poke at that minority that I made.

"yay more liberal tears" is meant to be a joke, and I thought that was obvious at this point in time. Why are you guys getting all up on me for it???
Okay, maybe we misread your intentions, but it really did NOT seem like a joke about a minority. "Libtard" and "SJW" get thrown around a lot to refer to liberals, even moderate ones. And you didn't even use those in your original post, which basically just implied that every liberal was now going to throw a fit.

on the internet there is this thing called poe's law that states, due to the limitations of text communication, any joke can be misinterpreted as legitimate if the intent is not explicitly described. personally i think political jokes are most subject to this right now and it is entirely believable that you are laughing at a social justice caricature you think represents all liberals, disparaging many legitimate opinions with a throwaway comment while simultaneously demonstrating no knowledge of the subject.

basically if you talk stuff you should back it up

Yeah, I never meant it as an obvious statement. I thought that would've been obvious because who actually says "yay more x tears" seriously? Plus in a real statement, I wouldn't use "Libtard" and "SJW" and those types of buzzwords.

basically if you talk stuff you should back it up
Yes, in real statements and points.

Maybe you wouldn't, but a lot of people here would.

Doesn't matter anymore, though. No point crying over spilled milk liberal tears.

for reference imagine hillary got elected and opened the borders or expanded obamacare or some stuff and some hippie forget comes in and says "time for conservative tears"

it matches his previous political postings and there is no traces of joke

because who actually says "yay more x tears" seriously?
You haven't been on the internet enough if you don't know the answer to this

Seriously as in as an actual point in an argument. Last I checked, "yay more x tears" is not a point nor an argument people say or use when they're trying to be serious.

its the same sort of self assuring dumb stuff of "u mad" where if anyone responds they are automatically "mad" except replace mad with crying and liberal and some people actually believe it

You haven't seen /r/the_donald then

You haven't seen /r/the_donald then
I can tell you're not understanding what I'm saying lol

Anyways this is just getting drawn out and it's a very petty argument to begin with. My original post was meant to be taken as a joke because in quite a lot of political threads, the first comments consists with those not-serious joke posts, and I thought you guys would be fine with it because in those other threads damn near no-one gets as riled up as what happened here.

you are mistakenly assuming that only your intent matters when conveying meaning. language is a finicky thing and the meaning of words is decided by a sort of unspoken consent of the majority, if the majority or even a large minority of people who use "liberal tears" believe it to be a legitimate caricature or genuine trolling then you can quite easily be mistaken as serious despite any intention. ipquarx is pointing out that the required sizable population exists
