Author Topic: [BREAKING NEWS] Hate subreddit /r/AltRight banned from Reddit  (Read 1460 times)

loving good

it's okay to be intolerant of people who reject tolerance, if that makes any sense
basically, tolerance is not absolute but like a peace treaty
so long as neither side breaches it, you're fine
but if the other guy is a national socialist and starts saying that jews are the inferior race and must be purged, they've "broken the treaty"

though that's not even relevant because they weren't banned for political views, they were banned for private investigating

The subreddit only got banned because the mods there were actively allowing private investigating posts that were in violation of the sitewide rules.

This is reasonable. I don't agree with banning subreddits based on content, but Reddit is basically obligated to shut down any subreddit that engages in private investigating/witch-hunts.

Reddit still has a stuffty reputation for not doing so in the past.

the private investigating was done in the name of justice. Reddit is controlled by CNN

It's called free speech

Sorry, I don't subscribe to fake news.

alt-right using 'freedom of speech' to defend the direct violation of other's personal information and privacy

what a joke

Sorry to Say, private investigating is just finding person info publicly shared online and gathering  it together. So legally this is not a violation of privacy as the victims revealed their personal information.

If these investigatees are used to shutdown people from argueing against things, then I will agree this is fight lost, and rightfully so.

But if these investigatees were used to track criminals and give the information to the authorities, politically biased or otherwise, this was not an immoral action.

private investigating isn't illegal, but it isn't allowed on reddit.

Oh, well then fair enough.
