Author Topic: A Night In The Woods (Coming Feb 21)  (Read 5715 times)

I would describe it as a platformer visual novel college dropout simulator. It has a weak plot with not too much creativity, although there's a little bit of humor here and there. As for the gameplay, you mostly just hang out with friends, talk to people, do stupid stuff and advance the storyline. There's no dying/losing at all in the game, you can forget up as much as you want but it only hurts the ending. There are 4 'core' characters, which is the cat, the fox, the bear and the dinosaur. You either vibe with one of them or you don't vibe at all. They all have their own little storyline and you can choose to hang out with them, talk to them etc. It definitely has a lot of love and care put into it, but apart from that it's not really a contest winner.

I've played undertale for about an hour, and that's the most I could manage before the gameplay got extremely boring and repetitive and I lost interest in the game. As for NITW, i've been playing it for about 5 hours and it hasn't gotten boring. I guess the motivation to continue playing is furthering my relationship with the various characters. My weakness in this game was the parents relationship, because I have a very stuffty parent situation IRL and seeing Mae's parents be so chill and go through their phases of midlife crCIA is kinda tear jerky

I'd put it into the Undertale/Earthbound/Adventure Time/Regular Show/Cave Story/Phoenix Wright category of emotion-evoking entertainment, but gameplay-wise it's bad rats level. Buy it if you're sensitive to cute things.

yeah that's definitely not in my interests, i'll be taking a hard pass however its good to know people can relate to the game on a personal and emotional level

I literally haven't seen anything about this game outside the blf circle

just to expand on what I said earlier, I haven't seen the people I follow talk about this game yet it still seems popular on some level, being a global topseller on steam is nothing to dismiss. have any major figures noted this game or has it just gotten popular through passing word? genuinely curious because I feel left out of the loop

don't see how that's relevant even if it is the same guy who made the game
that's like saying blockland hates men because aot only has female player models

>Video mocking either all men or not making a good enough distinction between all men and MGTOWs
>Unfinished game that stopped development before male models were put in

How is that even remotely the same? That doesn't make any sense. It's like saying that if you stuff in the toilet you must think it's okay to stuff on your face.

you're missing my point.
just because a creator put out something controversial in the past does not make all their future and past work about that one thing.

No stuff, but if they do hold these political beliefs still my money might go as some virtue signal donation to Anita Sarkeesian, like what happened with the CaH dev who donated 50K to her kickstarter.

It actually isn't that inaccurate though, but it fails to separate men from the radical MGTOWs who actually act like this guy in the video, and if all men are stuff then I guess I'm too stuff to give a hand out.

what i'm getting at here is, you're not going to buy a game you might have interest in because you're worried about what the creator will spend the money on?
of course developers do not spend all their money on improving the game or making new content, some of it goes to their own needs. if i got 50k from something i helped to make, i'd spend it like there was no tomorrow on things that i like and what i'm interested in; you'd probably do the same.
most people buy games for the content in the game, they don't scour through the developer's profile to find out their political beliefs and base their opinion on the game about that. that's like writing a review on a book by just reading through the author's wikipedia page, it does not relate to the book at all.

does he need to add a giant loving text sign saying "NOT ALL MEN ARE LIKE THIS" at the end of the video to fit your ideals?
watching through that video, i believe that it's satire on the people who take this whole "feminational socialist" thing seriously; it shows some dude getting upset over a trivial thing and instantly posting it online while making a big deal about it.
can you not get offended at somebody poking fun at a controversial topic?

"can you not get offended at something that is offensive"

Do you even understand the definitions of the words you use? I'm not interested in engaging any further discussion since you've already proven it would be a waste of time. As far as "why do you care where they spend their money?" goes, you probably would care if a game developer was sending their funds to CIA or something. I'm not interested in funding radicals whether they kill people or make inaccurate videos on the internet that divide people by superficial characteristics and misrepresent fact to drive some anti-social agenda.

great job editing my quote so it fits your narrative. gotta make yourself look like the voice of reason here.

that's a huge loving leap between controversial video production and terrorism.
and yes, i might care if a developer was funding CIA, but they'd have a nice little talk with the law if they did actually help fund terrorist organisations; probably resulting in their game being removed from online retailers so they're not associated with terrorist organisations.
but just a little controversial video online that was made four years ago is really tipping you off on buying a game? what if they don't believe in smear campaigns on genders and were only making it as a joke based on a controversial topic?
i thought i was over dramatic, but holy stuff you took the cake right from my hands and ate all of it.

badspot gives CIA money and none of you cared

lmao

what a scumbag, speaking up against a type of people that are really annoying and a pain in the ass. im uninstalling his game immediately

>Video mocking either all men or not making a good enough distinction between all men and MGTOWs
unless you're that exact type of person in the video who cries misandry when something doesn't go your way, this video is not targeting you. you're essentially choosing to get offended over something that has nothing to do with you, other than the fact that it's about a man. if that's your case then you kinda prove the video right.

even the description of the video makes it clear they're only referring to a certain group of people
Quote
A quick vid about just the worst dudes and just the worst culture

i'm a man, the creator of the video is a man, you're a man, it's not speaking against 'all men', only the really exclusively handicapped group that thinks that men are superior in every way to women and deserve everything. if this video and belief really hurts you, then you have all the right to not buy this game. it's your money and nobody's forcing you to buy it. just know that you're really going to miss out on life if you judge everything out of spite.

Besides that, why the forget should his past creations matter at all to why you should buy the game? Badspot has been drawing research for however loving long and you still bought Blockland.
