Author Topic: SAMURAI JACK IS COMING BACK ON ADULT SWIM 3/11/17  (Read 22794 times)

ren and stimpy: adult party cartoon

looking brown townytically at the trailer there are five things that I hope they don't do

  • make it too talky: the original cartoon spent a really long time getting you into the atmosphere and the setting so that it would make it all the more awesome when Jack fought the bad guys and saved the day, plus it built up the suspense and the tension perfectly
  • bring up these death chicks to fight Jack too much: the variety in villains and bounty hunters that Aku sent to fight Jack added to the atmosphere and the mythos of the original cartoon and these death chicks seem like they're supposed to be recurring villains
  • forget about the supporting cast: put quite plainly, if there's no Scotsman, I will flip; you have a loveable supporting cast and a loving mountain of material to reference and pull from, go ahead and surprise us with some new stuff but also surprise us with some old stuff too
  • relegate Aku to the backseat: I didn't see Aku once in this trailer, when really he's the second half of the duo that makes this cartoon so loveable; hopefully he'll be there to taunt/fight Jack throughout the series and won't be left to some massive "ooga booga booga" reveal near the end (IDFC that it's a new voice actor either, put him in the spotlight)
  • skimp out on the humor: the balance between action and comedy was honestly what made it watchable; if they go the edgy, self-brown townytical route they hint at in this trailer without backing it up with some jokes, then I might not find it that interesting

idk what do you guys think
