Author Topic: I think I have Dermatillomania.  (Read 1770 times)

Dermatillomania ; The primary characteristic of Skin Picking Disorder (also known as Dermatillomania or Excoriation) is the repetitive picking at one’s own skin to the extent of causing damage.

For some reason, i like to pick my scabs and watch the blood, slowly.... ooze out.. and i'll randomly scratch myself so much i'll make the skin peel, and then if that's not enough, if it's a real itch, i'll scratch untill the skin area around it is red and it's painful.

I have no idea why, but when i look at one of my freckles or moles, i feel like taking a red hot razor and cutting it off.
And if others have moles, i feel like doing the same thing to them, and it just freaks me out.

And when i itch i think there's always a little bug biting me and i'll pick at the itch and search to see if a insect is around.

You probably don't have some outlandish self diagnosed medical condition, you probably just do stupid stuff for attention

Think what you want.

wtf guys?
dermatillomania is literally categorized as "the uncontrollable urge to pick at your skin"
it's a type of obsessive compulsion and is a very broad encompassing disorder, it isn't 'outlandish' and I doubt someone would do something like this for attention it's really destructive and I've had a few friends who have had it

I don't exactly get the point of the topic but I doubt op has any reason to make it up

If you're gonna copy my thread title, you could atleast copy the format too.

you probably just fidget op, its not a condition

ok if that's a disorder we all have it
pickin scabs is the stuff

Idk guys I love picking at scabs and callouses on my hands and feet. I just thought that was normal.

picking at scabs is not dermatillomania.
