Author Topic: Help me decide my gaming PC  (Read 1468 times)

So some of you might know I want a gaming PC, but that doesn't matter, just help me find parts that are good and cheap.

Use PC Partpicker UK and try to get under £480, but don't go too low.

Minimums:
3GHz Processor
GTX 1050Ti
8GB Ram
450W Power Supply
1TB HDD with 64MB Buffer Cache Least
A CD Drive

Hope you guys can help, I have one done already that you can edit: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/Xxxt4C

Some advice I've heard is to worry about the gear your packing and not the aesthetic appearance of the computer
Also don't skimp out on the power supply, give yourself a few hundred watts of overhead as a buffer incase you want to upgrade

Just my two cents on this

you could probably drop the cd drive if you want to save money. i haven't needed one in years so you should be able to get along fine without one

Yeah I honestly don't care about the look as long as it's not just some grey/white box, but I think that 450 is enough for what I want

I like to rip my CDs onto my computer so I'm keeping it

well you cant do amd because that stuff is ancient... and amd might finally come with zen in a decade perhaps.

i think your current one is good enough for now and as low as you can get with the specs you've given us unless you want to buy used parts from ebay or somewhere else.
alternatively, try to use the same cd drive or hard drive from your old computer to lower the total cost

Sorry for triple post but I came up with this build here for £476.92 that offers a MUCH better upgrade path and has performance that is on par if not better.

  • Intel i3 6100 @3.7ghz
  • Msi GTX 1050 ti
  • Kingston HyperX fury 8gb DDR4-2133
  • Msi H110M Pro-VD Micro Atx
  • EVGA 430w 80+ white
  • Fractal Design Core 1000 Micro ATX case

For the price you're getting a really great performing build along with a really great upgrade path if you ever need to take advantage of

what were the other posts supposed to be?
one was me asking about the sound card and the other basically saying "ill make u a list in a bit"

An i3 even turbo'd isn't going to do a whole lot with the stuff coming out these days. My advice would be to check the pcmr subreddit and get one of the cheaper builds they have there.

No but for the price hes asking for, thr i3 6100 is a hell of a good CPU.yes it's not the highest performer but what do you expect? It's a good budget chip. Plus cheapest =/= better performing.

Asus m5a97 motherboard
Its one of the best ive seen,

Quick question, if I'm using headphones is it worth it to buy a 7.1 sound card or are 7.1 sound cards for surround speakers? And if so should I get a 5.1 sound card then?
