Author Topic: how to get my dad to stop checking my homework  (Read 2707 times)

I don't have the best grades but the worst grade I have is a C in math.

my super asian dad thinks constantly checking over my homework and boringly forcing me to sit down through his lectures on why I got this or that wrong is fine.

I'm not saying not checking homework is a good thing, but my dad makes the whole thing a exhausting 2 hours of pointless repatative lectures

I don't have the best grade but I constantly show him my plans I plan to take and my grades. this homework checking thing in my opinion doesn't benefit me all it does is makes the next day of school that much more tiring

id say your best bet is to spend less time on the forums and other activities that are taking away from your study time and to sit down and watch some videos, read some books, and/or listen to your super asian dad and understand the topics youre struggling with so you stop getting C's and start getting A's :)

lectures
same happens to me, but it's the teachers that do this. they spend like loving 10 mins bitching about how we don't want to learn over somebody not bring their notebook.

OT: try and focus more studying and less time on things like the forums

I'm really trying to prove my dad wrong by improving my grade from a C to A but right now he keeps doing this checking thing

He doesn't understand the slightest is how to make things interesting and much of the time his math lectures turn on my to my future education lectures and other personal things.

he never seems to care about anything else of my concerns and when I bring up an issue I have it always ends in a negative way of some talk involving "just get over it". he doesn't try to help the family is any other way besides education. so it becomes extremely frustrating when all he seems to want to talk about is math equations and not this piece of glass I stabed in my foot or how he only buys frozen food instead of cooks any

he doesn't try to help the family is any other way besides education.
what the hell

tell your dad to teach you 'how to go forget yourself'

what the hell
yeah I get that education and thing to gets college degree is probably the most important matter as a high schooler but it's insane that he doesn't care whatever else happens

every conversation and interaction turns into a lecture on studying or planning to get a job. I understand it's important but there's nothing more stupid then seeing your conversation about hotdogs turn into a lecture on how your a failure

tell your dad to teach you 'how to go forget yourself'
teach by example

how well are you able to distance yourself from him? does he demand to see your homework or do you just show it? how well are you able to talk to him without him interrupting? how well are you able to control a conversation so it doesn't instantly spiral into how your life is a waste because you don't have a job or something?

Don't let him see it lol

I have a job

he asks for my homework but yeah the only answer is I show my homework

I can't control where the conversation goes and for awhile now I just try to cut as much communication with him

that is the part that disgusts me because all of the time I try to be passive and he always tries to get me to talk. if I don't talk the conversation gets progressively more intense with more bait filled topics.

I hate that he can always use the "I provide a roof over your head" as a excuse. he knows I don't have the balls to run away. it's extremely manipulative and that's why now days I try to keep communication with him at a minimum.

"Can't I just keep everything in one binder with dividers?"
[demonic screeching]
"I don't take notes when I don't need to, it makes it harder to actually think when I'm rushing to write things down."
[more screeching]
"No, I'm not paying attention, I already know this."
[a choir of cats is strangled]
And worst of all...
"I can't get to class on time without running, but I'm not allowed to run in the halls, you can't mark me late because it's an unreasonable distance to walk in that amount of time."
[reality is devoured by the wrath of the faculty]

that's so loving true

he knows I don't have the balls to run away.
that's... fairly normal. it's not a good thing if you have to run away

do you do your homework at home or is there any way where you don't have to bring it home?

he can't check what isn't with you and you're telling the truth that way

between school, your job, and this homework check biz, how much freetime do you even get? it sounds busy

they never said u can't skate in the halls
