Eastern Orthodoxy or Orthodox Christianity is a different sect of Christianity, like Catholicism and Protestantism.

Therefore, someone who follows the Bible in its proper context (important word there, btw) will understand your position and accept you regardless, even if they necessarily don't agree with you on everything.

Exactly. There's more to life than who you forget

do u like negativity in ur life ?

The world is hell and everyone is going to loving die. If you can't handle somebody near and dear to you thinking your love life is strange without considering cutting them out of your life entirely, you need to figure out what your priorities are.

I've dealt with this very problem many times in my life, living in a conservative state with a very religious family. Sometimes you have to thicken up and bite the bullet, or let them be completely ignorant. Preemptively cutting somebody out of your life on a whim with no closure for either sides makes YOU the starfish.

Damn it'll take some real brainpower to extrapolate my statement to you being trans

i actually elaborated because your original statement didnt make much sense to begin with unless youre implying youre completely aromantic.

Talking from a completely hypothetical standpoint that isn't related to OP's dilemma, this is a really, really awkward issue when it comes to relationships with family and friends if they necessarily have any quantifiable problem with your loveual orientation. I've had personal experience where a friend learned I was gay and they started to act completely different around me. It's entirely reasonable to be concerned about who you do and don't come out of the closet to, because no matter what, it's going to change how people think of you, for better or for worse.

Well each Christian has different viewpoints but I found this:
"This being said, however, we must stress that persons with a homoloveual orientation are to be cared for with the same mercy and love that is bestowed by our Lord Jesus Christ upon all of humanity. All persons are called by God to grow spiritually and morally toward holiness."

I'd just tell him honestly, if he responds negatively you shouldn't be worried.
This is true.  God teaches that we are to extend the same mercy to all sinners as He does, and his mercy is infinite and unconditional.

Here's the thing about religion, Christianity, etc. In the end, it's all about what you personally choose to believe and act upon, as far as how you live your life and interaction with other people goes at least. I'm not 100% sure what you mean by "orthodox Christianity", but I'm going to assume you mean someone who follows the Bible and its teachings. Therefore, someone who follows the Bible in its proper context (important word there, btw) will understand your position and accept you regardless, even if they necessarily don't agree with you on everything.

See, I'm a Christian. I feel like often times we get a bad rep (although not necessarily without reason; but that's a different matter). However, even as a Christian, I don't go around Bible-thumping and judging people. I don't hate on the LGBTQ+ movement in any way - that sort of thing only hurts people. I don't necessarily agree with every lifestyle choice people make, but that goes for everyone (even a lot of Christians), and hey, it's not my place to impose on your life. Disagreement on something should never stand in the way of showing kindness toward someone. I will still be your friend. I will still love and support you as a human being. I am friends with a bunch of people who are gay, bi, etc. People who let "religion" get in the way of that tend to be the problematic ones.

Now, I can't vouch for other people. Plenty claim to be Christians and then hate on people. It saddens me on many levels that such things happen, so if they do happen to you, I'm truly sorry. If you want to talk more about this stuff or if you are experiencing problems, PM me or something. :)

no offense but if you don't know the name of a major branch of christianity you probably shouldn't be giving advice on christianity

everyone interprets the bible in their own way, but for the most part it seems like trans is a difficult thing for a lot of religious people to accept (moreso than homoloveuality). still, if your grandpa is a good guy, im sure he wont hate you for it even if he doesnt agree with it. he might try to preach some stuff to you, but i mean it was probably gonna happen at some point anyways so just tough it out. family is still family at the end of the day, im sure your gpa respects that

Not knowing the history of a religion is not the same as not knowing what I believe in personally or how what I believe relates to other people.

Loose brown townogy but I doubt a car mechanic knows the complete history of cars. Christianity is SUPPOSED to be (although it often times didn't happen) a non-legalistic religion, so it's pretty easy to know and read the Bible and not know all of the church's history.

At the very best you are a Heretic.

yeah but eastern orthodoxy is a different church entirely
It's more like a motorcycle mechanic trying to give car advice

If op wants a serious answer Eastern orthodoxy is probably the toughest on friendry and transmissions out of all the main Christian denominations.

Honest question, why exactly do religious groups even have a problem with transgender?
I mean, with homoloveuality, there's at least vague bible verses like "if a man lies with another man it is an abomination" or whatever
But I can't recall ever hearing any verses cited that would go against transgenders
