Not knowing the history of a religion is not the same as not knowing what I believe in personally or how what I believe relates to other people.

Loose brown townogy but I doubt a car mechanic knows the complete history of cars. Christianity is SUPPOSED to be (although it often times didn't happen) a non-legalistic religion, so it's pretty easy to know and read the Bible and not know all of the church's history.
