Author Topic: How do I get pass Norton's stupid blocking stuff?  (Read 2545 times)

For some loving reason my dad decided like 5 years ago to install Norton all of our computers (mom's and brother's computer) and I don't know why he is not aware that it's total stuff, basically what it's doing on my computer is blocking websites that aren't bad or removing files when download something that totally safe, for example when I goto kisscartoon, it's gets blocked take a look:
or download Danmakufu, Norton doesn't even spend a second scanning it, it's just instantly starts deleting the files because it think isn't safe when it is

if you're an administrator try killing the process

Yeah, but he thinks I am not mature enough to admin on my own laptop.

Get Linux

or put a Linux VM on your computer
I showed my sister how to do it so she could use it while watching her chick flicks from questionable sites

Get Linux
What the forget does this have to do with this?

Also, a fix for your problem is telling your dad is that Norton is so horrible it can delete itself.

my dad would not believe me and laugh it off

Take back control yourself then.

http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html

Put that on a bootable USB drive and boot up into it, then remove the admin password. No need to install linux or make a VM.

looooool 'type a message to your parents to explain why you tried to go this site'

lmao am i on trial dad

yea, I was actually about to link the same thing as Ipquarx. I recently used it to reset a ton of computer passwords at a church who had lost theirs.

I am getting a stuck on the "booting the kernel" part. Help

, but now I am using USB Passport drive, but I don't know what's going here, I am trying to boot this thing, but I am getting is "not a bootable drive" on from the after the boot menu, so now I am reading the guide here and it says
Quote
How to make an bootable USB drive

  • Copy all the files that is inside the usbXXXXXX.zip or on the CD onto an usb drive, directly on the drive, not inside any directory/folder.
It is OK if there are other files on the USB drive from before, they will not be removed.
Install bootloader on the USB drive, from command prompt in windows (start the command line with "run as administrator" if possible)
    X:syslinux.exe -ma X:
Replace X: with the drive letter the USB drive shows up as (DO NOT USE C:)
If it seems like nothing happened, it is usually done.
However, a file named ldlinux.sys may appear on the USB drive, that is normal.
It should now in theory be bootable.
Please know that getting some computers to boot from USB is worse than from CD, you may have to change settings, or some will not simply work at all.
well, now I am getting "Not a removable drive" in cmd wtf. what I am supposed to do here.
