Author Topic: Massive Rant 11 : teacher wrongly accused me of plagiarising, sent me to office  (Read 5429 times)

You sir are a champion for putting up with this mess. However something is troubling me (outside of everything that happened to you). In the post you said "but I couldn't finish it in time so I e-mailed it to myself to finish at home,"

Is it possible for you to find the computer from which you emailed the assignment from? I don't know if that will help your case to prove that you didn't plagiarize anything but it could be a start. If that doesn't work then does the class room you were in have cameras?

"On the 16th, my class was assigned to read a paper and write 3 or so paragraphs explaining the author's purpose. I was not there for the assignment, so I received it when I came back to class on the 21st. I worked on the assignment all class long," If you can get the footage of you coming to class on the 21st, then you might be able to prove that you finished the paper on the 21st even though you turned it in two days later. (I don't know if anyone witnessed you working on the assignment but if anyone did then that might help your case as well).

"One of the main things that drove him to accuse me is the date difference. The top of the paper reads "21 February 2017" when I turned it in on the 23rd. If I were him, I would get the hint that I was there and worked on the paper ON the 21st."

Couple the above statement with the one about you emailing the assignment to yourself on the same day and you just might be able to prove that you did the work yourself...... I don't really know how to help beyond this but hopefully you can prove your innocence.

there is no responsibility on you to prove you didn't plagarize a paper. the only burden of evidence (in logic & law) falls upon the person making the claim and you should just tell them 'yea unless you have literally any evidence to suggest I plagiarised that I'm pretty much gonna ignore what you're saying'. I would become very indignant and confrontational becuase as long as you aren't rude a confrontational student not only looks more trustworthy they are also far more difficult to ignore. I would just ignore it until your grade comes in but if any points have been docked for 'academic dishonesty' or whatever I would immediately have your parents contact the principal or superintendant if the principle is unhelpful. angry parents are 10x harder to ignore than angry students.

In schools, if you don't give your evidence or explain what happened, they immediately side with the teacher and fully go through with your punishment.

This is absolutely true.

I never spoke about what was likely to happen--I told him that he bore no responsibility in the situation and thus should ignore it unless prompted to do otherwise by further accusation or a penalization in his grades. If he ran about pleading his innocence when the case was nearly closed he would only serve to make himself look nervous and guilty. Rather, I told him the appropriate course of action--which is to ignore it until prompted otherwise and then take the appropriate proceedings.

Same thing happened to me when my school tried to have me arrested and charged / successfully expelled me (but the schoolboard let me come back) for 'Endangerment'
The principle questioned me relentlessly about the same exact thing and when I wouldn't admit it, she got all pissy, and called my parents up, telling them I did it anyway
I was lucky the police didn't question like that :v

stuffty situation tho

Some friends of mine sent deaththreats to some furry in the school, a cringy one who expresses himself very.. openly.
They told me that they convinced him he was hacked by making an email one letter off, and if I wanted to send a message, so I did with the intent on clearing it up after school just briefly incase things got out of hand.
Well, they did. Friends sent deaththreats before and after my message without telling me, and I was lumped in / attempted to be charged with those threats despite my email message saying explicity "your biggest worry is your bandcamp page getting hacked"

No offense but your friends are stuffheads

jokes aside, is it just me or do american teachers never seem to listen to students if the teacher is in the wrong? or that could possibly just the amount of american forumers that rant here.
american teachers have this bullstuff philosophy where they're always in the right and you have to listen to them no matter what they're shtting out of their mouths and if you speak against or after them they call it talking back and disrespect
at my school "talking back" to a teacher will get you suspended from both school and after-school activities
you're not allowed to speak in defense of yourself to any member of the faculty or you're forgeted

freek school sucks ass and i would try to get out of there as soon as possible

I loving hate when one student does something stupid and teacher feels the need to punish everybody in the loving class or makes some handicapped rule around it.
My math teacher banned bottles from his class because some idiot was bottle flipping, I know bottle flipping is loving stupid, but just give detention or some stuff.
My english teacher banned lollipops from her classroom because some idiot from another school she worked at ran into someone else with a lollipop in his mouth and this person broke he jaw or something.

My high school suspended people for drinking on a party bus going to wane vs drake with no proof whatsoever
