Author Topic: PC taking ages to start up  (Read 1505 times)

if its not your start up settings getting forgeted up, its your drive is dying. back up and replace immediately, or you'll waste time trying to fix it like i did.

Probably just windows update

Try restarting it again to see how long it takes
Not an update and it's slow every single time

Same thing happened with my computer after I got a really nasty virus. What 'fixed' mine however was updating from windows 7 to windows 10

Can't really say much to you apart from reinstalling windows and backing all your stuff up :/

How will I know if my start up settings are messed up?

Take out your hard drive and post pictures of both it's sides.

I have never done anything with the inner workings of a computer before. It's also my dad's pc so I would need permission from him before I take it apart.

run a few defrags. I recommend defraggler as it allows you to see just how defragged your HDD is.
I'm sure it's much more than that though. If it's taking this long your computer has probably been raped with malware.

don't bother with this.

I ran two different scans, if you still think it might be malware please link your recommended scan.

Is it a laptop or desktop?
