the presidential elections turned the forums into a much more nasty place
some people cant go 2 posts without bringing politics into it
You know, I don't even think it's politics that's bringing down this website. I think it's the fact that literally nothing of interest has happened in the past 6 or so months. I mean politics is a factor in it because it promotes talking about the same stuff over and over again, but really, there hasn't been anything new and explosive awhile to bring people back. Side tracking though, how do people bring themselves to just talk about politics here? Coming to a lego forum for children about politics is the most petty thing ever. I personally came here at the start to have fun and stuck around for that reason.
Politics brought down discussion and made things less interesting but it really drives things down further with the people here. It's not just constant discussion, I feel like it's brought here everywhere.
Mentality really hasn't changed here imo. It's just
what new is even happening anymore, seriously.
I don't mean to hijack the thread but
Personally I've had a completely different view on the forums for the past few years myself, I think it's been a terrible influence on me. I mean it's really none of your faults as I was going through a rough time mentally and was trying to change my life around and all but it really messed with me in some places. I think it was more because of the people I associated with and how people thought of me on this place.
This forum has heavily promoted negativity in me. While it hasn't been present in a very long time, the way the people on this forum are dead set to their opinions, ie call Pie Crust a dog forgeter 4 years later really shows how nothing is ever dropped. It's such a terrible way of thinking, especially when people here are younger of age. Believe it or not,
people change. While it may be for the better or the worse, people do it. I'm not saying Pie Crust has changed as a person, obviously he's a troll, but people still think it's appropriate to attack him because they want cheap e-rep or something. It's seriously counter intuitive.
As dumb as this sounds, if you're in a state of where you feel the forums are bringing you down, just leave. Don't try to prove yourself, just get out of here. I'm serious when I say get the hell out of here. Take time off to think about what you're doing as a person and maybe it will help you. I've brought myself to get too attached to this website and it brought me to have borderline depression again.
As well as I've masked this, I've lost sleep over this drama. Why? Because I knew I was doing something wrong, but I couldn't say otherwise I was too afraid to take a stand for how I felt in myself.
Please know the people on this website are people and you don't have to utterly trash them as a person to prove a point and gain some non existent status on a website that won't be relevant in ten years, seriously.
