Author Topic: WHY Badspot finds it hard to make updates for Blockland (chill, community)  (Read 6287 times)

i'm pretty sure he's off taking over the world or something
With oct trees

Most likely

"Make the game more steam friendly" doesn't help the fact the steam community pages have the entire first page covered in stuff thanks to greek2me. It doesn't make newcomers feel welcome

Besides that, i doubt even the Blockland's Steam hub is enough for them, people like things to be as convenient as a single button press, if they have to go out of their way to find something, they're probably not gonna bother, so there should be an in-game link to the various boards in the BLF's 'Blockland Files' category, there should be a link to the Help board, and even a link to the Suggestions and Requests board

There should also be a thing that tells them that they can use their Steam key to register on the forums

And i still think a workshop would help, it's done Garry's Mod well enough, we still have our add-ons here and on Blockland Glass, just to make things even easier, and to appeal to the Steam users, there should be a workshop so people can just quickly open it up and automatically install a subscribed add-on, for Steam users, it'd be like their own default Blockland Glass

If something gets deleted from the workshop, you'd still have the add-on file, like Garry's Mod, you'd have to program the game to delete the add-on, but i don't know how you'd even do that unless things uploaded via Steam Workshop would have a special file like Glass' JSON files

What does happen when something is deleted from Glass? Do you get to keep the file and it just never updates again? What if it's re-uploaded?

Anyway, i think Greek2Me is still around, he could just remove those if he has control over Blockland's community hub

There's always fixes and improvements to be made to help the game run better, be more convenient, help expand the possibilities of what content creators can make, and even make the Steam version more friendly toward the Steam users that we've been getting but then losing after 5 minutes because the game is so bland them and there's no indication that there's a collection of add-ons and such or in-game links to tutorials on creating add-ons, doing cool things with events, building things that do fun stuff, etc

greek2me could fix the steam hub stuff, but then newcomers wouldn't understand why people arent responding to their topics

It's their choice and a matter of what they're more comfortable with, even if it is slower to get answers

Greek2Me trying to promote the forums only made Blockland's Steam discussion board slower because it's hard to tell if it's still active or not just by looking at the first page

You'd have to look at the main hub to see new or recent topics

I'm sure I talked to Zeblote a couple of times, and he's said he IS working on a Blockland 2.
he as in badspot or zebolte
