not much of a fan of this one. i couldn't really care about the political tone, but it just seems off compared to all the others.

demon days had songs criticising the iraq war and school shootings
Are you sure about that?

did they call out people specifically by name

keep in mind the song is still good, but that kind of overt politicization really annoys me

the way i see it, hip-hop in 2017 is political, and it's not gorillaz place to ask these talented hip-hop artists to be a part of their album, but control what they say. that would be stifling their artistic expression, and that's definitely not what gorillaz is about.

Better get used to it now.

have you guys listened to these remixes yet? they're pretty dope
also the videos are really interesting; it looks like the 4 headshots used for the album cover are actually just really high-def 3D models

apparently they bleeped out "Obama" and "Annoying Orange" in the beginning rap section

they were never this political
The war is over so said the speaker
With the flight suit on
Maybe to him I'm just a pawn
So he can advance

this totally doesn't reference George Bush huh

O little town in U.S.A., your time has come to see [quoted from Genius: Criticizing how the USA tend to be oblivious about the collateral damages of their exploitation of nature on other countries' territories (and sometimes even their own, hence shale gas), or of the wars they take part in.]
There's nothing you believe you want
But where were you when it all came down on me?
Did you call me ? No... [The last line could also refer to the fact USA involve in foreign conflicts (ingerence) without any legitimity, for example they didn’t have the United Nations' authorization to invade Iraq (thanks to the french veto) but still did.]

if you think Gorillaz is bad because of political messages then you're really ignorant and you really should take into account that politics are everywhere.

you could argue it's more blunt now, but honestly it's your problem then.

No but you sure seem upset somebody doesnt agree with your opinion
wew lad
you know how you just come in and quote something is really obnoxious because you contribute nothing to the conversation whatsoever

like who comes into here to listen to your opinion? fun fact nobody wants to hear it.

actually some fantastic guest vocals

that track is loving fantastic

The background music of The Apprentice seems to be an arrangement of an unreleased track that was leaked three months ago. Might be more to this album that meets the eye.
