trying to put on socks when your feet are even just a little wet
for a few summers i went on a weeklong hike with a decently sized group in the ardennes. we would split in groups of 4 with each person a hiking bag with their own supply and a tarp.
the tarps would be our tent, one on the ground and one above us, slightly slanted. our bags and clothes would be at the end where the two tarps would meet. one night we had to camp in a clearing, it was already a rainy day so going to sleep was uncomfortable as the tarp tent didn't really do the job. later in the night at around 3am it turned into a big ass storm. everyone was soaking wet and so were our bags and clothes. we even had to get out in the storm around the same time to fix the tent so it didnt blow away, which it almost did. that morning i was still soaking wet. i remember having to deal with putting on my wet socks, and into my wet hiking boots, and continuing hiking with them for the rest of the day.
i still have nightmares
