felt-tip pens or the really high quality ball/gell pens are really nice, It seems silly but its really easy to tell the difference between a 10 for $2 pen and a single $5 pen, same goes for pencils.

i graduated with a kid who seemed to be p deep in some devil stuff. an english teacher once jokingly told him to use blood as ink since he didn't have a spare pen to give him and the moron scratched at his wrist until it bled and used his finger+blood to write

fountain pens are automatically best but they are admittedly not as convenient as some other pens
also pens > pencils in general; only reason to use a pencil ever is cause you might need to erase something. but if you dont forget up you wont need to erase anything sooooo

how else can you just bust out fancy script with a flex nib??
