Author Topic: Is monday a bad word?  (Read 12716 times)

Thats what I never understood. Its the same as saying a manager is a manager? Yeah sure whore and monday is common insult but in my eyes thats the same thing as a kid not wanting to accept reality.

A manager isn't a demeaning term. Calling your manager a control freak is. Calling someone who has a job a "wagecuck" is also an insult. monday is a demeaning term because it used to be associated with slaves (it still is in my basement).
brother and monday are two different words with two different meanings and context

They really aren't. One just sounds more aggressive then the other

Oh so its bad because people link it to slavery? Werent they called Bro's back in that age anyways?
Im not an expert in history so im probably wrong.

i'm only not ok with it when OP says it

They are. If you've been around enough black people in your life you will understand that there is a clear cut difference between monday (degrading insult directed towards black people) and brother (endearing complement usually given to a close friend / also used to address someone else)

They used monday more than Bro. Bro was what fancier white people would call blacks and what blacks would call other blacks. monday was a mostly southern insult used as a degrading statement directed towards black people. Black people hardly used the word after the 30s and 40s

they are the same word but context and tone is the only thing that differentiates the use
they can be used interchangably
"gotdamn there are so many forgetin brothers on my plantation" (voiced by redneck white man in a demeaning tone)

We Canadians killed all our black people so now the closest thing we have are those slaves we imported right from Africa.

saying 'brother' in a southern white accent is like using 'maths' in american english instead of 'math'

it's really rare to hear anyone use brother as an insult, even when white people say 'brother' it's usually accepted in some parts, especially if they're close friends of yours. of course if you say 'i want to lynch some brothers' it's tribal but it's rare to hear that. 'i want to lynch some mondays' would be more common.

They can be used interchangeably but that's rare. Also, in terms of context, nobody would be caught dead saying 'monday' in an endearing way. 'whats good my mondays' or 'hey you're my monday' both sound extremely horrible and insulting, compared to 'whats good my brothers' or 'hey you're my brother'

Then again im socially handicapped
if you know you're handicapped why don't you take efforts to stop being handicapped

wtf kind of question is this
one from a socially handicapped belgian teenager

is it bad to call someone's disabled mother 'hot wheels' after she got a new wheelchair after a car accident that killed her sister

if not then you already have all the answers.
Best pickup line ever.

monday is bad pretty much all the time, due to it being the derogatory term, same for Broes

brother is fine but only from black - black or simmilar, except for white people
