Most labtop screens are made of Plexiglass, which is mostly plastic or acrylic.
Screensavers would have a point since it's litterally just photons fired out, it would be way brighter and blurry because it isn't going through liquid crystal but it would still be useful.

Without liquid crystal the light is literally just the backlighting, aka white and thats it, and it's only 1 color

Nah, the liquid crystal does everything aside from emit light, which is what the backlighting does, which is just bright white
