Author Topic: Might be getting a part-time job soon. What/How much do I save?  (Read 1104 times)

I'll be going in for a job interview for a part-time job at Jewel and it's very likely I'll get the job. This will be my first job and I don't know what to save, I don't have to pay my parents anything and I will soon be getting a car (of which I will have to make payments on to my father), but I do not have to pay for insurance, only gas at that point. There is nothing else I have to put money into, but I want to save anyway. Any tips?

uh... save all of it that you don't have to use ?

no i want to buy candles

then buy candles and save the rest

Make a safe or a bank account to put like 20% of your paycheck into it.
As long as you have that, you'll always have money to buy steam games or anything else.

i currently put 50-75% cause i dont have any expenses beyond gas money and spotify, stuff like that

one thing you could do is just set an amount you'd like to maintain and don't let it go above that by transferring extra money into savings, i do $1000 because thats more than enough emergency money and much more is risky as forget because debit cards don't really have any security

save as much as possible. having savings in a few years will open a lot more doors for you.

take it from someone who was too late.

95% so you have enough for the life saving succ

I'm a pretty good saver. The way to go is "well, i need this this and that, so i'll buy that." The rest stays in my bank account. Every now & again ill spend money on something I want and don't mind buying like going out to eat or something but I've saved thousands just not buying anything. I worked at mcdonalds when i was like 15-16 for like 6 months and didn't spend money on anything and when I quit I had enough to pay my bills for like a year lol.
