I don't really think the victim being armed here would have made a difference if the homicide was premeditated and she was specifically targeted. I know y'all like to wank your self defense fantasies but in a realistic scenario where somebody's trying to shoot you with a concealed handgun, the window to react while surprised is astronomically small, especially for an untrained citizen.It could've made a difference, but it most likely wouldn't have.
I don't think anyone here has disagreed with the fact that the death wasn't preventable. We can think idealistically how it should of been all we want but the reality was that all the cards were dealt before it even began. I'm speculating for the future really in how we can increase security to prevent situations like this from becoming another Gritty Grapnel. If he hadn't shot himself there could have been a lot more trouble for this school.
