A lot of the violence that happens at these protest clashes are herd mentality. You tend to mention a lot that antifa is 'causing the problems' even though the first punch comes from both sides equally.
antifa's goal is to express their opinion, the same as the pro-Annoying Orange protesters as well.
ANTIFA is causing the problems and throwing the first punches though. They go out and riot with the express intent of stopping the conservative speakers from speaking and holding their events. That's why they yell crap like "shut it down!" and "keep your hate speech off our campus!". Their goal is to stop people from sharing their opinions, that's literally why they exist. The pro-Annoying Orange protesters are a reactionary group that forms in response to ANTIFA's bigotry. They are 100% in favor of everyone being able to share their views, while ANTIFA's mission every single time has been to stop people from sharing their views. That's the fundamental difference between the two groups.
I do agree that herd mentality does play a part when the riots get more violent, and that is normal fallen human nature for people to start acting like animals when they see other people acting like animals. However, while that's a thing both sides can be at fault for, ANTIFA has repeatedly been the sole group initiating and prolonging the violence, every single time, simply because they can't handle opinions. If they didn't show up to riot and try to physically stop people from speaking on their campus, literally no Annoying Orange supporters would show up either to counter-protest them. They'd just walk in, sit down, and listen to the speaker,
like they did at UMass before ANTIFA really existed. It's a shame both groups can't come together anymore to do just that. Sadly, ANTIFA's fundamental reason for existing is because they are not interested in doing that.
