If not, what can I use for muffin envelopes? I could probably get paper towels or napkins or something.
I actually need an answer to this question.

i'm not sure what tray we use but we just put the batter straight in after we spray some grease into it so they don't stick

it's fine to just put them in the tray. but yes, non-stick spray is important

Do NOT use little paper cups. All they do is take up space. Just make sure you've greased the slots. And that you give me one too.

I mean I already made the muffins. I'd offer you some but like half of the muffins got stuck to the pan and half of them were eaten by me.
