okay so i have a full half-life 2 folder from my old system files, but i forgot to install half-life 2 through steam overnight. steam's backup system isn't working with it, and it doesn't register as actually installed by steam so synergy doesn't work with it, but i can run it just fine. is there anyway i can get it to actually work with steam? i can try to install it normally, but my connection's stuff and will take quite a while to actually download it

start the hl2 download, wait for it to finish preallocating, copy files over to the "downloading" folder

thanks for the suggestion, but funnily enough it was sort of the 'reverse'? i had to copy the files over and then start the download, then it worked
