Author Topic: am I the only one that likes the Pokemon movies over the TV show and games  (Read 1768 times)

Remember the time they finally unlocked the GS Ball?

For the longest time I've never played a real Pokemon game or watched more than 15 minutes of a movie or its anime series.

I found my old DS a month ago and started playing this spinoff of it, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team (I know red isn't so different but in-name it is) but it's a roguelike with a deeper story and a bit darker atmosphere than the main series. Though it seems to be the prequel to the entire series.

In more related news, what's so wrong with someone liking Pokemon this time around? If anything, the cancerous part of it has died down or matured even though Pokemon GO exists.

It's the current year.

I was going to do a Kira joke but then I realized what the joke is

and how bad it is

They all revolve around the same plot. Evil men/corporation/group is introduced in the opening with forshadowing plot, queue opening theme of movie, ash and friends forget around when they hear word of a mysterious pokemon, they investigate, find out what bad guys are doing, want to stop, somehow ally themselves with ultra powerful pokemon or some stuff, bad guys get beat and they go on there way like nothing loving happened.

The only one i think i ever liked was Destiny Deoxys. Except this time it was a Pokemon attacking everything instead of an evil corporation.

Rise of Darkrai is phenomenally different than that; two god-tier Pokemon are fighting it out and their fight could destroy the fabric of reality so the crew needs to calm them down

and if I remember well enough the movie with Lucario also didn't fit that bill

I thought the Lucario one was just furry fan service. It's been a while since i've done anything pokemon related.

I just checked the plot on Wikipedia, I can see how it might be seen as "furry fan service" but that wasn't the angle they were going for

if Lucario looked less like a dog and even more human then people wouldn't say it
