Author Topic: Imposing militaristic national anthem I made.[WIP]  (Read 1901 times)

Hi all, I recently started composing an imposing national anthem for a fictional nation I created, and I think its turning out pretty darn good. I used FL Studio to arrange and compose it and I used EastWest Quantum Leap for all the instruments.

heres a link to the song:

Also since I know the BLF has the attention span of a flea unless theres breasts involved its best to watch this while listening to it:

It's nicely written, but I think whatever sample or synth you're using for the percussion sounds kind of canned. It's mixed well but has a digital rigidity to it. If you can quantize that would make for a more organic beat. Anyway good job

edit: might not even need to quantize tbh, I'm struggling to tell if it's the rhythm or sample itself throwing me off.

keep up tha good work.

Which one? Theres 3 percussion sounds in there. Tambourine, snare, bass and cymbals.

18 second national anthem lol

At least when it has lyrics written for it they'll be easy to memorize.

Not a bad theme.  Needs development, though.  Usually anthems have more of a singable melody, though.

Would you be willing to collab?

if you wanted to make it longer, you could slow it down, loop this part once, then get a little more horny, if you know what I mean ;)

I've noticed this too. I haven't been necessarily super-trained in sound quality yet, but the samples you have for the percussion make the song sound as though it's slipping in and out of time, which if you're going for an anthem, you don't want at all.

It also is kinda flat the way it is right now. Considering it's a dark, gritty militaristic nation with a lot of power that you're writing this for, those characteristics would be reflected in their anthem with tons of powerful instruments, which you are doing. I would heavily recommend adding more harmonic flavor (IDK if that's an actual term) to the piece in order to boost the melody. Also, considering this is a prideful nation being militaristic and all, try to reflect that pride in the music by injecting some more furor into the main melody.

It's definitely a great start. I really want to see what this becomes.
