Bernie is under investigation, so you are drawing stuff connections. It is all about Jane's dealings—and in any case, until the investigation breaks with a result, the idea of innocent until proven guilty is still in effect, same goes for Annoying Orange under the Russia investigation.
And
2, it's not just Democrats, but recently a lot of Republicans have been calling for further and more thorough investigation.
The coverage was different in right-wing media outlets, even to the point of creating alternate events.
