It's not even a fake hate crime, it's just not a hate crime at all. He was harassing two women based on their race, which is close to a hate crime, but harassment is a misdemeanor so it isn't. He didn't stab the two people with any racial motivation, he just stabbed them for intervening, so it's not legally a hate crime
