Author Topic: why do people hate mayo so much  (Read 10323 times)

i didn't even know people ate/drank condiments on their own like wtf

i eat spicy mustard on its own and drink vinegar/worcestershire sauce
spironolactone gives me really intense salt cravings (i also just love the taste so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

also

You're thinking of dijon, and it's what they don't do to it that makes it grainy and brown. The general idea behind any mustard is you take mustard seeds and soak them in some sort of acid (usually vinegar, but can also be certain wines) until they become soft. Then you smash them up until they become mustard.

Normal yellow mustard usually uses the really light seeds which are the least spicy and don't have that dark sorta color, then they grind them up with a food processor, press the mixture through a fine screen to filter out the husks from the seeds (which are the 'grainy' stuff) and then reprocess again until really fine paste, which usually gets a lot of sugar and extra stuff added to mask the spiciness of the mustard and get the normal, vinegar taste.

Dijon mustards use a darker seed that's spicier, without being ground and filtered as much as the normal hotdog mustard. The rule of thumb is basically, the darker the seed, the spicier the mustard.

deli mustard is made by soaking the seeds in vinegar, dijon is specifically made by soaking the seeds in white wine

this thread i thought up while making a sandwich became a 9 page discussion about condiments

what the forget

makes me want portillos
heck yea

try gene and judes, they're around chicago. great hot dogs

cause it tastes like stuff

The only loving tomato that is good is ketchup and spaghetti sauce, otherwise forget off
WHAAAT
AM I THE ONLY PERSON IN THE UNIVERSE THAT DOESN'T MIND EATING A PLAIN TOmATO (maybe with some salt)

i like mayo but i always accidentally scoop too much when making a sandwich.
honey mustard is alright but for some reason my dad thinks it's acceptable to mix dijon mustard with honey and call that "honey mustard".
yellow mustard and dijon mustard are ok. i'm kind of sick of dijon because it's overused in my house.
sriracha is alright i guess. tabasco hurts more than it actually flavors things. cholula is just spicy ketchup...?

hoisin sauce is the king of all sauce

Literally taking a few bites causes mayo to drip out from the sides / back of it but omh it's so good
this is hot

hot dogs without condiments make me puke
hotdogs with relish ketchup and mustard actually work

i eat tomatoes whole tbh

for some reason, tomatoes from the grocery store are super nasty. the only acceptable tomatoes i've had were from my garden ... but now my household is a no-tomato zone 'cause it gives my dad an itchy mouth or something. i miss tomato. salty tomato is best

An itchy mouth means he has a mild allergy.

And I'm surprised your store-bought ones taste bad. Admittedly I have had supermarket veg that is dry or a bit off, but it's kind of uncommon.
Maybe try some from a greengrocers and see if they're fresher.

I do like tomatoes but not usually on their own. I'm also put off of cherry tomatoes for some reason.
But I love Beef Tomatoes, especially on a juicy burger.

what do people have against ranch
honey mustard is the real villain
