things that appear innocuous, the right to use their preferred bathroom, the right to participate in gender-exclusive activities, having their identities respected and acknowledged, etc. all lend themselves for the ability of trans individuals to 'exist' in public spaces. if you can't comfortably use the bathroom in public, participate in things that make you happy, or live in an environment that respects who you really are, it's very difficult to live a normal and happy public life.

i wasn't the one that initially used the word 'rights,' but i don't think splitting hairs about what is and isn't a technical right really hits the real points being presented here. the point is that denying trans individuals these things simply because they are a powerless minority and the majority is more important makes their lives markedly worse
