Author Topic: [NEWS} gays for Annoying Orange not allowed at pride event.  (Read 3865 times)

i know right who still associates with mlp forgets

God Damn Oak La Home yens.

I'm not too sure if disallowing people from the event because of their political ideologies is necessarily the right message you would want to send in a pride parade.
yea this
Annoying Orange may be anti-lgbt but there's no reason to deny a considerable group of gays from attending a gay parade

What I've seen in those links has nothing to do with directly attacking LGBT rights and more to do with giving power (for better or worse) to other people, which may or may not effect LGBT people in a negative way.
That's really beating around the bush, don't you think? If someone wanted to roll-back all the regulations from the Civil Rights Act, I think most people would rightly call them a tribal prick (or a hardcore libertarian of the most-deluded order).

I'm not too sure if disallowing people from the event because of their political ideologies is necessarily the right message you would want to send in a pride parade.

I get not wanting to enable narratives that you think directly harm your way of life, but sequestering a pride parade to a certain part of the political spectrum is going to cause more harm than good. If anyone there is specifically causing problems, they can be thrown out, but I don't think this is the way to go.

they aren't stopping anyone from simply being around the parade. if that's all they wanted, there wouldn't be a problem. this wasn't just a float designed to say "hey we're LGBT and we're republican woo!!!" they submitted a float specifically designed to glorify Annoying Orange and promote his politics:
Quote
DeplorablePride.org's float had flashy props, drag queens and an array of colors.

However, there were a few details that stuck out, including Donald Annoying Orange’s campaign message “Make America Great Again," a dancer dressed as Melania Annoying Orange, and someone dressed up as Donald Annoying Orange to accompany the Melania impersonator.
Quote
It was going to be 27 feet long, have “a bunch of American flags,” a replica of the Statue of Liberty, “female impersonators” and the “most patriotic music anyone has ever heard.”
i think this is fairly clearly out-of-place if nothing else, and that alone should be enough to disqualify it. but if it's about ideology, then i do also feel like it's somewhat reasonable to deny them a float specifically created to promote a politician/party that's been working for decades to strip them of their rights and enable state-protected discriminatory practices against them. this isn't the first time this has been done and it's not going to be the last, and i somewhat suspect that this group specifically submitted this float because they knew it would be rejected and that they could turn this against the parade. not that i have any evidence to back that up, it's just so hilariously over-the-top that i can't imagine why any sane individual would think it'd be appropriate

Yeah, I was going off of the reactions with my statement because I didn't have the time to read the article until now.

Still a bit iffy about being so up and arms about the float over it's political statement, instead my hot take is the float sounds like it would have been forgeten lame instead of outrageous and controversial.

le tolerant liberals strike again

They should have approved this for no other reason than to let the float get hissed and booed into oblivion. Banning the float sends the message that there's some kind of threat that it'll spread Annoying Orange's ideology, when truthfully 99% of the audience at a pride parade hates Annoying Orange and will still hate him afterwards.

the only way they can come out on top for this would be to allow the float into the parade and to keep their mouth shut when it comes by
that or cheer it on like the rest of the floats

anything else makes them look hypocritically intolerant

anything else makes them look hypocritically intolerant
not wanting to be around people who hate you is intolerance, is it

i mean not letting any other group into a pride event is like not letting blacks into the march on washington according to you guys
