Author Topic: i think i discovered a new species of insect(?)  (Read 2623 times)

ok so this is weird but my family went swimming today and my dad found something on his shirt just now
let me explain it in the best i can
1 : its about 3 inches long, catepillar like body with stubby legs, but it has 6 very long legs in the front (1 cm maybe)
2 : it moves around using both its 6 legs and via inching like a worm
3 : very squishy, has a soft shell-like structure on its front
4 : has pinchers on its head, and weird claw-like hairs on its back (dont know if they are hairs though, but they're as thin as hair)
5 : swims like an eel or snake, with a very wavy motion and keeping its head steady, swims EXTREMELY quickly.
6 : very tiny or maybe no eyes at all, i could barely see them
7 : kind of agressive
8 : brown-ish (kindof more grey), black spots
9 : kinda fat like a catepillar
what the hell is it

it's a prehistoric insect from the neolithic
name it after me

did you get a picture?

op I think you just found a big waterbug

it looks nothing like that (but it could just be a very young one of those because of the missing legs and inching movement, but its pinchers were on the front of the face not on the sides

probbably

Did it look like this?

not at all. do you think that thing is able to inch like an inchworm? again, i said it has a 3 inch body
suppose i should correct myself, a long fairly slim body (still fat as a caterpillar though)
and again, the pinchers were on the FRONT, those are still on the sides. the eyes were barely visible. no wings, 6 legs and a bunch of un developed legs or stubs
