the gist of the story is that Logan Paul, arguably one of YouTube's most popular content creators, broke VidCon security policy in order to get good vlog material
Paul arrived at VidCon unannounced, instead broadcasting a treasure hunt in the main plaza of the event center for $3,000, creating a frenzy outside that could have hurt someone or broke something
immediately after this, he abandoned his security detail and ran into the pavilion, where his fans formed a massive pack and chased him around the area, even into the fountain, all which wax recorded via drone
the hysteria ended with Logan being caught by security and forced to the ground
it is unclear whether or nor he will be allowed back next year

Anita Sarkeesian, creator of Feminist Frequency and prominent anti-bullying advocate, picked out YouTube political commentator Carl Benjamin, AKA Sargon of Akkad, in the audience of her panel on women creators and proceeded to lambast him with insult after insult, ultimately calling him a "garbage human", directly breaking VidCon's harassment policy
the attacks were not a response to any bad behavior, rather Sargon and his friends were sitting quietly and orderly in the audience, listening to the conversation between Anita and people asking questions
Sarkeesian has defended herself, saying that the mere presence of the group was not meant to create discussion but to create a hostile environment, meanwhile Sargon has asserted that he had just had a friendly conversation with one of his former opponents (feminist and political commentator Laci Green) and that he and company had attended the panel in order to learn differing perspectives in order to better build their arguments
as of today, VidCon has acknowledged that Sarkeesian broke their harassment policy but they have also acknowledged the context of the situation and have levied little to no punishment
in maybe/maybe not related news, popular YouTube content creator boogie2988 has come out saying that while on another panel with Sarkeesian, backstage she was very rude to him, seemingly yelling at him for no reason

a security guard at VidCon was accosted by Instagram model Christian Burns, who attacked him with insult after insult, including but not limited to "ugly", "not as famous" and "blue collar as forget", even saying several times that he should "kill himself"
Burns has defended his actions saying that he did it because of the actions security had taken against a reportedly innocent person, who was confronted by security, restrained, then threw a guard off his shoulder and was forced to the ground
meanwhile other footage has appeared of him doing the same routine to other guards for no justifiable reason
the story has a happy ending, however, with a happy dosing of just desserts: one of the main insults that Burns had used against security guards was that they had less followers than him, so the internet has chipped in and have followed the one security guard who took the most flak on Instagram
as of today, he has markedly more followers than Burns
