Author Topic: [opinion thread] how do you feel about refugees entering the US?  (Read 2179 times)

with the recent "travel ban" in the US, this is a rising issue and i think everyone should have a voice in it.

how do you guys feel about refugees entering the US?

we did not let any refugees in during world war two and we will not let them in now.

no, youve seen how much they forgeted up france and england

I've yet to hear a single good argument against bringing in refugees from around the globe. The vast majority of dissidents have objections stemming from xenophobia or Islamaphobia, which I always find ironic coming from the people who are also so proud to be American--the nation of many peoples.

The people who don't want refugees in America and aren't tribal starfishs are generally wildly misunderstanding the situations. Usually when you explain the statistics and how wildly hard it is for terrorists to enter the US they come around to sympathizing with the refugees.

You know, there was a time just 75 years ago when Conservative Americans risked their lives to protect an oppressed religious group originating from the Middle East. [...] American Conservatism is based on the concepts of opportunity and freedom and nothing you white-nationalist starfishs do is even remotely close to your alleged ideals. Nothing is less free than rejecting someone in need based on their faith or skin. America was founded on immigration and none of you starfishs are native to this country. To reject fellow refugees because of their religion is the ultimate hypocrisy [...] What loving struggle have you had in your life? Does any of it compare to those who had to walk thousands of miles by foot--often hiding from the law--because people back home genuinely wanted to kill them for their faith? Those people struggled and fought to get into their respective countries. What the forget did any of you do to get into America? You were born here with a loving spoon in your mouth. Shut the forget up and accept that it is your responsibility to help those in need or get the hell out of the United States because it accepted your starving family when they tried to enter America.

i'd say a more restrict policy and immigration system is needed if you're going to let the refugees in imo

I'm fine with it, as long as it's the right people. That's a hard thing to do though. Obviously, nobody wants to import terrorists, but I feel that there's some kind of moral responsibility to help people in need. I've read people bring up only accepting families, and that sounds like a good solution to me.

I don't really care as long as a monthly limit is established or something.

The thing about restricting it to families  is that the refugees who wish to enter the US usually have to wait a minimum of 1-2 years, often inside a refugee camp. If I'm a terrorist pledging my soul to CIA, I'm gonna go kill some journalists or get some cash and go shoot up a school in Europe. I'm not gonna starve in a camp for 3 years waiting for the mere chance to enter the United States. If I'm an orphaned 16 year old boy or a terrified 19 year old girl, why should I be rejected because I'm not with a family? No Refugee in the United States has ever carried out a terrorist attack since 1980--and before that, they were Cuban refugees with Communist ties. There is zero evidence to suggest any serious threat in the refugee population, and the only people who can claim there to be one after seeing the facts are just naturally xenophobic.

i believe the us should offer refugee camps that offer food and water until the the orange in chief can figure out how to properly allow refugees in a fashion that isn't blatant racial profiling

hmmmmm bad argument you see because you are not a   orphaned 16 year old boy or a terrified 19 year old girl, w

i think you shouldn't move a bunch of people from the 3rd world to the 1st world without expecting some type of culture clash. syria has no history of any type of western values so expecting the people from that type of culture to adjust automatically to a better one isn't going to happen. it's why you get refuges self segregating. they aren't even trying to adjust. there are tons of muslim countries that would be a perfect fit but for these people but instead we get politicians saying "well we banned jews during wwii so we need to take them ;((("

we send them to germany
