Author Topic: did this skype notification pop up for anyone too?  (Read 784 times)

i just now got it and it pulled me out of fullscreen on csgo

no but recently every now and then I keep hearing the skype message sound being played from my computer

I did a thing recently where I downloaded Skype and every time I started up the computer Skype would open up with the sound and everything

I did a thing that stopped it but idk what, it doesn't require uninstalling Skype

maybe.... changing the settings to not start it when windows starts up? lmao

Hey everyone, it's me! John Skype! Remember when you used to use my free software, Skype, to chat using text, voice, and video with your friends and family? Why not come back and give it a try? Discord won't miss you if it's just for an hour or two! Please

my computer has not restarted in like 2 weeks and i just started using skype again yesterday, and it gave the message like an hour after i got it out of sleep mode

Just FYI, if you don't want to be pulled out of Source Engine games by Windows' notifications or whatever, go to that game's properties in your Steam library, and put '-windowed -noborder' into it's launch options

It's just like being in fullscreen mode, but now you have easy access to your desktop and won't have your game minimized when notifications pop up

I did exit out of it.

I did exit out of it.
ok u should've said that at first
like fully exited out? like with the whole "are you sure you want to exit skype" thing along with that weird shutdown sound it has or did u just click the x

Just clicked the X.
Oddly it isn't using any CPU and only memory for some reason, even though I have not done anything with it. It's been running for a long time, even before I used skype for the first time on this computer.

yeah it still runs in the background even if u just click the x

I don't see any reason for it. It should have an option to let it run in the background but in stasis (aka not using any memory or cpu until needed), or to stop it giving useless notifications like that.

kinda like

or just quit skype correctly that would work too

when you click the x i believe it just goes to your system tray next to the clock which is likely so you still get notified from friends and stuff while not using too many resources or whatever, you gotta right click that and click quit skype to fully exit it or if you still have it open i believe you can right click it in the taskbar and be able to quit skype from there too
