Author Topic: Which Processor Should I Choose?  (Read 1518 times)

I'm looking to buy AMD's Ryzen, and I'm not sure if I should get the R5 1500x or 1600. I can afford the 1600, but I'm not quite sure I need it. I'm not doing any video editing related tasks, only games. I do run Discord, Chrome, and Spotify in the background though. I probably won't be buying another processor until 2020 btw.

get the 1600, its a much better deal especially since the 6 cores / 12 threads in it are good especially with future games that are going to take advantage of them

Yeah I was thinking about that...

just get the 1600x. with a good GPU, the difference in framerate when using a 1500x compared to the 1600 is minimal, but you're future proofing for more intense games with the 1600.

Remember with the 1600x, you'll have to buy an aftermarket cooler, which is just unnecessary extra costs.

so i should get a 1600x instead of a 1600 because...?

Don't get it imo, a 1600x is literally a factory overclocked 1600 that doesn't come with a cooler

Yeah, you're better off with just the 1600.

Get the 1600. Individual core performance could be better so it helps to have those extra two cores for gaming.

whoops, i meant the 1600. didn't mean to add the x
