Author Topic: should the creator of a piece of media play a role in it if they want to  (Read 3430 times)

I'm talking specifically about people like M. Night Shyamalan and cartoon creators like p much everyone at CN who spearhead projects and then take part as actors, voice actors, etc. in their own projects

should they do it? I've heard creators say they don't want to participate in their own projects that way for reasons like it'll ruin the integrity of the project because of the possibility for mary sues and self-insertion

mordecai in regular show was voiced by the creator of the show which made the cartoon feel more personal so i dont think its too bad

whats wrong??

wtf bro thats child enthusiasm why u post that

all that matters is whether its a benefit or detriment to the show

It's a nonissue as long as quality is not negatively affected. I imagine that a writer who doubles as a voice actor for example would be an example of a creator being involved for a positive impact, since they'd have the best possible idea for how the character would act and sound for a particular situation.

bj novak in the office is iconic lock this thread

sometimes it works, for example pulp fiction.

If youre doing it like stan lee than yes.
But if you mean...

*shivers*

forget kinda stupid ass question is this
what like make a law banning people from making videos with themselves in it? the forget

yeah i don't see why not lol

the creators know what they want the end result to be, so if they can effectively contribute to some part of it, why shouldn't they?

mel brooks is in all of his movies

its legally their property so....

everyone knows you can't have a good movie if the director puts himself in as an actor
