Author Topic: are there HDMI to USB-A converters  (Read 1218 times)

I'm buying a cintiq but it has an HDMI cord that needs to be plugged in
I only have one input on my computer and it's being used by my monitor

I'd prefer a blue USB-A if possible

That makes no sense, what?

There is, a simple google search of "hdmi to usb type a" works.

all I could find are USB to HDMI converters

am I just stupid and those go both ways or is there a difference

why the forget is it so expensive

Not sure, tried to look for cheaper ones. - edit: see new link

I found one on the link you provided me that was $20 which I'm p sure is as cheap as they get for blue USB-A

it's still USB to HDMI tho
I want HDMI to USB
or are those the same

i'm assuming you want to connect the computers output to another monitor (which uses hdmi), but you have no available ports besides a usb? then you want a usb to hdmi connector. look for the 3.0 ones for high bandwidth/higher resolutions.

there is confusion because hdmi to usb is the wrong way round. you want to output from usb to hdmi to connect the computer to the monitor.

the tablet uses a cord with three heads, an HDMI, a USB 2.0 and an AC power

the closest thing to what I want is what we've found already

also worth asking what the rightmost cable is

looks like the rightmost cable is just a proprietary power connector

also HDMI and USB are both fundamentally different and you'll need both for your tablet to work. HDMI for video, USB for tablet functionality. what other kinds of connections do you have available? if you have a DVI, thunderbolt 3, or displayport connection open then those can all be converted to HDMI with a cheap passive adapter

if you only have USB available, one of the USB to HDMI adapters already mentioned will work fine, but there's more hardware in there so it's gonna be more expensive. it'll just have an HDMI connection you can plug the cord into on the end of it
