Has anyone ever gone to a HPDE? I'm planning on going to one at the Utah Motorsports Campus sometime during the open track days. If you have, what event insurance did you use? I'm planning on going through Hagerty, but I'd like to know if there's a better (preferably cheaper) option. Also, general HPDE thread.

I don't actually live in Utah, but my town's only track is a packed dirt track that they use for super-modified cars only. I just happen to live close enough to Utah that I can go to the track and get my infotainment stuff on my car updated on the same day and go home, lol

what's the difference between this and a standard track day?

They have instructors on the course & there are time trials instead of actual racing. You can also actually get insured for a HPDE through a third party instead of having to pay out of pocket for any accident you're a part of.

if it's your first time skip the insurance and just try to find both you and your car's limits. no need to go ham

My problem isn't that I don't know my car's limits, it's that my actual insurance (AAA) will have a hissy fit if I enter any area meant for competitive driving. If I get a fender bender in the parking lot of the campus, they won't cover it, nor do they cover any of my modifications if something goes wrong. It's not to make up for piss poor driving, it's meant to make up for my insurance company's kind of asinine policies
